  • YES. The pass provides General Admission for one person, and allows you to register for 1 workshop per session time. You can decide which festival ticket holder attends the workshops you register for. We think this is a good option for the couples/families who attend, as one person can get an All Access Pass, and the other can get a GA ticket, and workshops that are included in the pass can be split up between them.

  • No, we are not offering GA tickets for this day, as we think it will be a more intimate gathering, and there won’t be a lot of other stuff going on other than whole-group experiences and smaller group workshops which are only included in All Access Passes.

  • Tickets are non-refundable. The festival will go ahead, rain or shine. Tickets are however, transferrabe.

  • Yes. If you find you are unable to attend, you can sell or transfer your ticket to someone else. Please use caution if you’re thinking of buying a ticket from an individual or third party. Take Root Festival will not honour tickets that have been forged or duplicated.

We are  a PEANUT FREE EVENT. One of our children has a severe allergy to peanuts and we’d like him to feel comfortable & safe playing on the farm after the fest. Please leave peanuts, peanut-butter, and foods containing these items at home.

Some of our teachers and attendees have allergies to scents. Please keep that in mind when getting ready to come out to the farm and when packing personal products! Thank you!

  • There is plenty of parking right on site — yay! We reserve several accessible parking spots close to the main action. We strongly encourage carpooling; we usually start a Carpool thread on the Facebook event page. Our hope is to not see any single-person vehicles through the gate!

  • Nope. The nearest ATMs are in Scanterbury, Beausejour, or Selkirk.

Some of our vendors might accept debit or credit - we will know closer to the event. But come prepared with cash!

  • There is no childcare provided.

We provide an engaging kids area that is for kids with a parent or guardian to visit. We don’t provide supervision in this area.

Children should be supervised by their parent or guardian at all times. While we are into free-range parenting (we’e unschoolers ourselves), there are hazards on the farm and places to get lost, as well as demos and workshops that use power tools, hot items, etc. There are also bodies of water on site. Thank you for respecting this fest rule.

  • Babes in arms and toddlers on laps who are calm are welcome in workshops - this is to respect the learning experience of others who have also paid to be there.

All feelings and needs are welcome - and there is a lot of space for kiddos who need to express themselves freely and run around outside of workshops. : )

Youth 13-19 need a Youth All Access Pass to attend workshops.

If a child younger than 13 wishes to attend workshops, a Youth All Access Pass can be purchased for them as long as they are ok to participate in a calm way and have a parent or guardian present in the workshop.

  • Also, there are several domes and cottages for rent nearby. We are in cottage country here, so there are some beautiful options.

Check out: Dome Instead, Glamping in Stead, and then the online cottage/rental listings for the area (Gull Lake, Patricia Beach, Grand Beach, etc.).

  • You bet! Our Volunteer application is up - check the nav a the top of the page to get to where you need to be! Thanks for considering joining the volunteer community!

** We are full for volunteers at the moment, but you are welcome to apply and we will reach out if an opening comes up! Thank you!

  • Please read our full Camping FAQ.

  • Yes! Right by the campground washrooms, there is an outdoor shower (cold only). BRING YOUR BATHING SUIT - there is no privacy.

Please keep it short, and remember to turn off the tap! This is not a play area for kids, though you are welcome to fill up a bucket to bring to them to play/cool off with. The water comes from our well, and is connected to our one and only water pump, so again, be brief, so all who want to can enjoy.

    BEACHES!
You can also make your way to a nearby beach for a dip...

Gull Lake (under 10 minutes north, up Hwy 12)

Patricia Beach (15 minutes, off 59)

Grand Beach (20 minutes, off 59)
